Quarantine Rings, 2020When lockdown began last year I felt the need to comfort make; something clearcut, beautiful, purposeful, generous. I started by making simple silver rings and mailing them to people on Instagram. Gradually I began experimenting with more complex ring forms eventually settling on torch-fired vitreous enamel on copper rings lining them with either fine silver or an interior layer of enamel. It felt good to reach back into my technical skills archive to work with such a sumptuous, colorful, and difficult material. During the summer of 2020 when so much in the world seemed to be spinning out of control I felt very grateful to make this edition of 62 small circles.
